We are wrong to think that death is ahead of us. Much of our life has already passed. The years we have lived so far are in death's hands.

Seneca ,   Moral Letters 1

We think of death as a one-time event. Every day, this gives us a false sense of how much time we have left. If you expect to live to be 100 and you are 50, half of your life is already gone. The first years of your life are already dead.

At the end of every day, we die one more day. Once we realize that every day we have lived is dead to us, we can see how every day is precious and why we should use each day wisely.
